Part One
1. According to some philosophers, human beings can gain knowledge by the use of reason. State how they said reason is used to gain knowledge of metaphysical and mathematical truths.
2. Discuss the role played by the idea of God in the various theories of reality.
3. Discuss the various notions of the nature of a human being.
Part Two
1. Discuss the various construals of the role of pleasure and pain with respect to the good for human beings.
2. Discuss how philosohers have understood the role of human reason with respect to the good for human beings.
3. Show how the idea of a social contract was used to explain the legitimacy of human social institutions.
